Our Body Will Express What We Are Blind To

ancestral healing emotional healing healing core wounds inner child healing mind-body connection past lives somatic and psychological manifestations of trauma trauma healing Nov 20, 2022
The body really is the barometer of our soul; our soul being our inner feelings and will express what we repress.

Physical illness, health issues, pain, injuries that won’t heal and even supposed ‘accidents’ all have a message from our soul and are an invitation to look within and heal.

They  are an opportunity to evolve beyond our current patterns and to move further into alignment with our true self and potential.

Whatever we have repressed and buried into the subconscious (meaning, we are unconscious of) gets expressed through our lives, our relationships and eventually our body.

This was once considered to be quite woo-woo. However, all the latest studies around trauma, Polyvagal Theory and our current understanding of the Nervous System, tell us most chronic health conditions are rooted in trauma and this can include but is not limited to:

• Chronic fatigue
• Fibromyalgia
• Digestive issues like IBS; Gastritis, Celiac Disease, Crohns Disease
• Headaches – especially migraines
• Cardiac issues
• Neurological issues
• Musculoskeletal issues
• Respiratory issues; asthma; reactive airways
• Voice and vocal issues
• Dermatological issues; hives; rashes; Psoriasis
• Autoimmune diseases
• Lupus
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Osteoarthritis
• TMJ
• Restless leg syndrome
• Cancer

They are some of the somatic issues one can experience as a result of unhealed trauma. The psychological and behaviour issues can include but are not limited to:

• PTSD
• Anxiety disorders; Panic disorders; Feeling Jumpy
• Phobias
• Eating Disorders
• Addictions
• Substance Abuse Issues
• Risk-taking behaviour
• Self-Mutilation or Self-Harm
• Suicidal Ideation and attempts
• Depression
• Dissociation
• Paranoia
• Chronic Rage; Explosiveness and reactivity
• Chronically passive/shy
• Isolation
• Difficulty sleeping; sleep disturbances; nightmares
• Flashbacks; Intrusive thoughts; Intrusive imagery; Intrusive emotions
• Avoiding situations, relationships
• Recurring/looping thoughts
• Mind racing
• Survivors guilt
• Shame and self-doubt

All of the above are expressions of unhealed trauma.

Trauma occurs not just through big events such as war, rape, abuse, violence or being in some kind of accident.

Trauma occurs as a result of:

TOO MUCH TOO SOON,
and/or
TOO LITTLE FOR TOO LONG.

Too much too soon includes any situation that was overwhelming and we weren’t supported to digest and process the emotions of that experience; or ongoing overwhelming experience and accumulated emotions.

Too little for too long can include needing something from our caregivers and not receiving it. This happens when caregivers due to their own disconnection to self, are not properly attuned to our emotional needs and thus may have provided well for our physical needs but perhaps not our emotional needs. This includes not being loved in the way we needed, not feeling seen, heard or accepted. Not having the connection, physical closeness, attachment, stability or safety we needed.

Even if our childhood was seemingly perfect, trauma gets passed down generations. What was repressed in our ancestors will express down the line. We can have thoughts, feelings, behaviours and somatic expressions that belonged to an ancestor.

In addition, the stress response of a previous ancestral trauma can also show up epigenetically in our body, meaning your nervous system can be wired for protection and defence in relation to the specific stress/trauma that your ancestor experienced.

We cannot be in Protection and connection at the same time meaning that if we are wired this way from an ancestral trauma, then the expression of your true self will be greatly limited.

We cannot thrive or be happy when we are living from protection mechanisms and defensive states.

Ancestral or sometimes called intergenerational trauma can be tricky to identify because how you feel within won’t make sense as to the life you’ve lived and the seemingly normal childhood experiences you’ve had. Your feelings, reactions and behaviours will feel out of proportion to your actual lived history.

Lastly, we have the conversation around past lives and what we bring into this life within our own soul. This is also extremely valid in my experience and brings incredible understanding and healing to who we are in this life because all ‘past’ lives are actually happening now.

Whatever is unresolved from our past lives, effect us in the present. The same feelings and patterns will express in this life.

Therefore, there is so much complexity at play when it comes to how we feel, what we believe, how we perceive ourselves, our behaviour, how we filter and experience our life and what we attract and create throughout our life.

However, the good news is that everything can be healed and there is a greater divine intelligence at play for our awakening.

All of these wounds are actually the gateway INTO our soul; into our true self; into our divinity.
We are supposed to go within. That is the way home. But this requires support to learn how to do this.

The trauma, the wounding, the limiting beliefs/filters, thoughts and feelings, defensive states and protection mechanisms can all be dissolved when you have an experienced and embodied therapist who knows what they are doing.

My work supports people in going within and using a trauma-informed somatic approach, we begin to dissolve the unhealed traumas (emotion) from the body so that you can embody your soul (true self) and live a life of fulfilment, purpose and love.

My intention is always to work at healing the causal level in comparison to many modalities which are aimed at managing symptoms.

When it comes to healing trauma, we cannot do that through the mind because trauma is stored in the body. Therefore, we need a body-based, or what is known as a Somatic approach.

This is why talk-therapy, counselling and psychology and any other therapy or modality which uses the mind, will have limitations to healing trauma. It can be helpful to understand our past and self, however that doesn’t create healing or the deep and life-changing transformation that we seek.

What we all seek is a complete resolution of the uncomfortable feelings, thoughts, sensations and manifestations of these unhealed wounds.

That is possible when we work through the body; somatically. And this is how I healed all of my childhood, ancestral, and past life traumas and came into my own wholeness and soul.

Literally, anything and everything can be transformed. Doesn’t matter whether it’s past life, ancestral, prenatal, birth, childhood or later. With the right experienced support (I’ve had 17 years doing this), you can heal. You can feel whole. You can feel empowered. You can reach a place where you feel enough as you are; where you feel connected to self, others, Nature and Source/Universe, and where you feel you belong.

From here, you are able to begin thriving not just surviving.

If you are ready to end the suffering, heal and support your body into a greater aliveness, vitality and health, I would love to support you on this transformational journey. Simply book a free initial consult and we can go from there.
